I went a little crazy today. I’ve had an itch for a few days now.
It started with the markers.
It seems like it’s impossible to keep them organized and have a system that works for the boys. Currently, the markers are in a big basket and being carried around the house.
Then the shelves really started to bother me. And I’m a firm believer that sometimes the only real way to clean something is to make a big mess and start over.
So logically, the next thing that happened was this…
Here’s a closer view of the mess…
On a Tuesday morning, ya know, just because.
I felt like Evelyn in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes when she’s knocking out that wall. (If you have not seen this classic, please, please do!) Her husband comes in and asks what she’s doing and she responds, simply, “I needed some light and air”. Then I love his reply: “well why don’t you open a window or somethin'”!? It’s a good thing Lee is out of town and does not have to endure this mess!
It’s nearing summer and I’ve got the equivalent to senior-itis. (If you don’t know what this is, find a high school senior this time of year and they’ll explain). I cannot wait for summer and to have the boys home again.
And yes , we’ll be doing school because I still believe in schooling year round. Plus you never know what next year will bring.
I’ve been trying like crazy to hold off on all this for a while – I mean, we have over a month left of brick-and-mortar school and a Michigan trip all before this will happen.
Yet the itch will not go away.
Maybe the Holy Spirit is persuading me because He knows next month is going to be chaos. Maybe this is an open window in my schedule that I need to take advantage of.
Whatever the reason, I would say I’m about 30% done…games and puzzles still bury the kitchen table (not sure how dinner’s going to go tonight…) and our calendar for the week is somewhere in pieces near the dishwasher. The fate of our Crayola Art Easel is up in the air because as much as the boys use it, there is just no room and we’ve got these nifty dry erase poster boards from Hobby Lobby that would stick nicely on the wall without taking up floor space.
I feel the boys growing up and our needs changing yet Little Miss seems to be right on their heels, preventing me from getting rid of anything she might use in the future.
